Packaging Solutions / Drums & Barrels
Drums & Barrels
Paramount Global offers a variety of drums and barrels for bulk or wholesale purchase. More commonly referred to as drums in the packaging industry, drums are only available in gallon sizes, typically ranging from 15gl to 55gl for bulk packaging needs.
Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) Totes are the largest containers available in the market and are available in 275gl to 550gl sizes. Drums can consist of different materials, including plastic, metal, and fiber. IBC Totes typically consist of a plastic tank with a metal cage. The durable material properties and size of these large containers allow them to accommodate a diverse range of products. Because they contain large volumes of product, their functionality outweighs the need for different styles.
Drums are typically cylinder-shaped and are available as an open head or tight head. Common colors for drums include blue, black, white, and kraft (depending on the material). Additionally, we offer a selection of covers and closures to complete your packaging solution. IBC totes are available in one style, a square plastic tank typically with a metal cage, but the bases can vary for transportation purposes.
Wholesale Drums & Barrels Packaging
Paramount Global, a leader in packaging solutions, offers a variety of bulk drums and barrels for wholesale purchase. These high-volume containers are used across industries due to their durable and functional design for holding large volumes of product.
Drums and barrels are designed to be strong, durable, and economical. Depending on the product’s needs, different types of material are available to ensure compatibility, including plastic, metal, and fiber. Plastic is durable but lightweight, so it is strong enough to withstand the rigors of shipping and handling. It’s also a more energy-efficient option since it requires less fuel during shipping. Metal is heavier but has tough barrier properties to withstand hazardous chemicals.
Both plastic and metal are trusted for their durability and can be UN rated for hazardous materials. Fiber is another type of material used for drums and barrels, however, it can only be used for powder or dry solid products. Fiber is a popular choice for dry goods because it is lightweight and cost-effective.
We offer a wide variety of drums and barrels in various capacities. We also provide custom printing services to create your own unique packaging. At Paramount Global, we are committed to providing the highest quality packaging solutions, and our drums and barrels are no exception.

Plastic Drums
Paramount Global offers an array of popular options for plastic drums, including:
- Open Head Drum
- Tight Head Drum
Plastic drums are available in only two styles, but their lids and closures can vary based on the product’s needs. The container caters to the needs of diverse industries, such as food, beverage, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and industrial.
Plastic drums are most commonly made of HDPE plastic and work well with beverages, food, water, shampoos, detergents, chemicals, lubricants, lotions, sauces, and more.. Common colors for HDPE drums are blue and black.
Metal Drums
Paramount Global provides the standard options for metal drums, including:
- Open Head Drum
- Tight Head Drum
Metal drums come in only two styles, but their lids and closures can be customized to suit the specific requirements of the product. These sturdy metal containers are favored in industrial and chemical sectors due to their ability to safely handle hazardous materials. Besides these industries, metal drums also serve other industries, including food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical sectors.
Metal drums are most commonly made of steel and work well with beverages, food, water, shampoos, detergents, chemicals, lubricants, lotions, sauces, and more. The most common color for steel drums is black.
Fiber Drums
Fiber drums are only available as open heads, but they come in a range of sizes, and the cover type can vary. The most common options are a lever lock or slip-on cover. These drums range in size from 10gl to 67gl.
Fiber drums only work with dry products in powder or solid form, typically used in the agricultural, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical sectors. Although fiber drums are limited to the products they can contain, they are cost effective and can be cut to less common sizes.
IBC Totes
Paramount Global also offers Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) Totes which are the largest containers found in the packaging industry. IBC Totes are available in size from 275gl to 550gl. Each size of the IBC incorporates a large tank and a pallet or legs for easy transportation. .
The most common style is a plastic tank with a metal cage that includes a built-in metal pallet. However, there are variations, such as an all-plastic tote without a metal cage, or an IBC tote with a wood pallet instead of a built-in metal one. Another style is the metal IBC tote that doesn’t incorporate a pallet but has legs on the bottom that allow for a forklift to easily transport it.
IBC totes, known for their durability and capacity to transport large quantities of products, are used in various sectors including the food, pet, chemical, pharmaceutical, and nutraceuticals industries. Their square stackable shape optimizes storage space in warehouses until they are ready for use. IBC totes are designed to be reused and are available for purchase as new or reconditioned units.
Material & Durability of Drums & Barrels
Drums and barrels are designed to be durable to safely contain the product and protect it during transportation. Fiber is the weakest of the three materials but it is cost-effective. Plastic can hold liquids and solids and can also withstand chemicals. However, metal is the strongest in terms of barrier properties and material strength but is less cost-efficient due to its weight.
IBC Totes are a mix of materials typically consisting of a plastic tank and metal cage with a built-in pallet. However, other options, such as all-plastic and all-metal are available to accommodate a range of costs, products, and environments.
